Overview
AeroFlow is a comprehensive web-based platform for airfoil analysis, design, and optimization. Inspired by XFoil methodologies and implemented with modern web technologies, it provides engineers and researchers with powerful tools for single-point analysis, polar generation, compressibility corrections, transition modeling, and geometry/inverse design workflows.
Key Features
- NACA 4- and 5-digit airfoil generation with mathematically precise coordinates
- Custom airfoil upload via .DAT files
- Single-point aerodynamic analysis at specified angles of attack
- Polar generation across angle ranges with lift–drag characteristics
- Viscous and inviscid analysis modes
- Pressure coefficient (Cp) distribution visualization
- Boundary layer diagnostics: shape parameter, momentum thickness, skin friction
- Compressibility corrections (Karman–Tsien, Prandtl–Glauert)
- Transition modeling: natural and forced
- Design tools: full inverse (MDES), mixed inverse (QDES), and geometry edits (GDES)
- Real-time interactive plots and charts
- User accounts, saved analysis history, and exports
Why I Built It
- To provide an accessible, modern interface for rigorous aerodynamic analysis
- To streamline airfoil design workflows with inverse/geometry tools
- To enable engineers and students to explore aerodynamics in the browser
